After we finish up networking today, we will discuss programming, using the video below as a start to our discussion. I have laryngitis, so your patience is appreciated.
Please work quickly and quietly, and once you have set up your home server and can demonstrate it to me, using the criteria on the board, I will come over and evaluate you. Since today is "your day", it would be a great idea to get in touch with me and discuss how your culminating project is progressing, what problems you are having, and what still needs to be completed.
Since Friday seemed to slip away from us, let's spend today finishing up our installs and setups of Windows Home Server V1.
Work with your partner to set up a client and server. There are copies of Windows Home Server for you to use. Those of you who feel motivated, and what to push yourself, should be exploring Windows Server 2008SP2 (this is part of your Dreamspark subscription).
You may also use the ACER H340 to practice on. You are bit short changed today because of early dismissal..so please be extra motivated and focused as you work on your culminating activity.
Today is Day 1, so therefore, it's Culminating Activity Day. Please make good use of your time, and ask me to help you if you are stuck. Those without "anything to do", are reminded of both their blog, and their Microsoft IT Academy course work.
Since we have class first today, please do not waste any time waiting to get set up. Make sure your system is up, you have given yourself an I.P. and you are plugged into a switch. Each group has 1/2hr to present their game today (to speed things up, please copy to the install files for each game to a thumb drive (or three) and share throughout the class).
Tomorrow is the last day to present games. We will be starting server mechanics on Wednesday. |
