The Outfield are a British power pop band that stormed on to the scene in the mid 1980s with a sound that was unique and instantly recognizable. Their mega-selling album, "Play Deep" was a staple in most of my friends' cassette collections. The band's hits include their signature song "Your Love", "Say It Isn't So", and "Everytime You Leave", all of which enjoy heavy rotation on most rock stations.
The Outfield came into my life when I was trying to deal with typical teenage 'girlfriend issues", and struggling to figure out who I was and what I what kind of person I wanted to become. "Play Deep", and its melodic songs helped me through this difficult time, and one particular track, "I Don't Need Her", while not a hit, is my favourite song from the album.
An exploration of the music that holds meaning in my life.
