Thanks to CRTC regulations on the amount of Canadian content that must be played on the radio, The Odds are one of those bands that I am sure that everyone has heard of, even if they cannot put a finger on their name. The deserve to be much more than just a quirky footnote in the history of Canadian power pop.
Formed in 1987, the reviews of the Odds' first three albums paint a picture of a critically acclaimed yet underrated band. In 1995, their album, "Good Weird Feeling" went platinum in Canada and spawned the hits "Truth Untold" and "Eat My Brain". The song that I have included with this post, "Someone Who's Cool" is " from their third studio album, "Nest". Originally written for the Friends' televison show soundtrack, the song was very successful, charting in the top ten in both Canada and the US.
An exploration of the music that holds meaning in my life.
