A short, but very interesting blog post about the lack of female candidates across all levels of Canadian politics.
I am at a meeting today, so unfortunately, I will miss class. My expectation is that you will be on your best behaviour, and will make every effort to stay fully engaged and on task during the class.
This period is your opportunity to finish your Lord of the Flies response, with the expectation that it will be typed and corrected for grammar and spelling mistakes (it is always a good idea to have a friend or three read over your work and point out any potential issues). If you need extra help with the essay, please bring all your rough drafts and planning sheets to the classroom tomorrow at lunch. I will be happy to go over it all with you.
Students who finish early, or are "stuck" are to work through the same exercise given to new Canadians when they are learning about Rights and Responsibilities. You will need to refer to the Citizen Handbook we downloaded during the first few days of class (if you can't find it, you can grab it here). This should not take you too long. Consider it homework ;)
We have been invited to send a student to the 2015-2016 sessions of Forum for Young Canadians. You will travel to Ottawa, tour Parliament Hill, participate in discussions with Federal politicians and youth, attend MP dinners, and a whole lot more :). If you are interested check out forum.ca and talk to me about it after class. We had one student go last year, and they had a fantastic time!
