I am at a technology conference in Torontountil Saturday afternoon. I hope to share thoughts with other educators, and bring some new interesting ideas for using technology to help with inquiry-based learning. While I am away, students will build on the ideas that we looked at on Wednesday and start working and researching like "historians". Their first subject that they are exploring should be very familiar, themselves. Students should fill out the defining moments handout as they watch the videos listed below. The ability to define questions that help determine the significance of an event is an important historical skill. We are going to look at some events in Canadian History and determine whether or not they are “significant” to the overall development of the country. After students have discussed their answers on the handout, they are to spend the rest of the period (and all of Friday's period) working on their defining moments presentation. The handout and rubric can be downloaded here.
