![]() It is the start of a new semester, and I am VERY excited to be teaching 20th Century Canadian History to each and every one of you. I have my specialist in Canadian History, and while that may seem strange to some of you, it is a subject that is near and dear to my heart (and something that I am VERY passionate about!). We also have the exciting opportunity of studying history in a 100% digital classroom, and as such, we are truly going to be looking at some very innovative and interesting ways to explore the skills and content associated with this course. I am more than ready to undertake this journey with you. Before we start the class, we need to make sure that everybody has a school appropriate email address that will serve as the repository of everything that we do this year. We will need to have cloud storage, so I am asking everyone to sign up for a Microsoft supplied email address and Skydrive. The email address should be in a format that best represents you in a business environment (laurier_wilfrid@hotmail.com as opposed to hotdudewithmadsideburns@hotmail.com). Try to avoid numbers and symbols in your address as well. The course outline is available here. All handouts, daily work, Smartboard notes, powerpoints, and rubrics will posted on this website. That said, students are expected to keep copies of their work both on their Skydrive and in their local folders at GHSS. It is also a good idea (if possible) to purchase an 8GB thumbdrive (less than $10) so that work can also be stored when there may be network or internet-access problems. CHC2DI is intended to be a paperless classroom. However, if students wish, they may print out any handouts, rubrics, etc that they need to help with their learning. All I ask is that they use their discretion, and only print pieces that they absoultely need. Today's trivia challenge is available here.
