There are two days left this week, and next week will be extra short.  We are going to spend the next five days polishing up our word processing skills.  There are several word processing software packages that are commonly used, including Pages used on the Apple macOS and iOS platforms.  Some people still use Wordperfect, since it used to be the standard for business communication.

The dominate word processing program used in business today is Microsoft Word.  We are going to focus in on this particular software suite, but you should find many of the concepts and skills highly transferable to other programs.

You will continue to practice your typing at the start of each day.  Please focus on the fundamentals, including returning your fingers to the home row,  not looking at your fingers, and sitting properly.

You have the week to finish the following (make sure you are saving these files in your OneDrive folder before working on them):
  • 1) Complete this familiarization exercise using this news story.
  • 2) Work on the basics of Page Formatting with this handout.
  • 3) Follow the instructions on this exercise sheet on Inserting Objects and Formatting a Table of Contents, making sure you answer the questions at the bottom of the page.
  • 4) Complete this assignment.  It is a good overview of all the skills that you have learned during this mini-unit.

Try to continue to use keyboard shortcuts, including the ones we have already looked at, to try and speed up your work :)  You can always print the list to have beside you, or download the graphic on to your phone.
