![]() Welcome to Semester II! This is an exciting day, as you are the first students enrolled in the brand spanking new Photojournalism class. Along the way there will be bumps and hurdles for all of us, but the destination will be well worth the ride. Most class days will follow the Period A: AWE and Period B: ENG format, but there will be slight changes from time to time that better fit the curriculum. Mr. Morrisey will be your instructor for the majority of the curriculum that falls under the English umbrella, and I will be looking after all the Photography and Print Design portions. Photojournalism is about storytelling and communicating with pictures. The task of using a camera to convey ideas, thoughts and art. During the semester we will work on assignments that will emulate what it is like to be a newspaper photographer. Each student will shoot and write news, feature, sports and portrait assignments. Your primary function will be tell the story of the everyday events that occur in life. You will learn to understand what news is, and how to identify the things in life - yours, and other peoples that make for good photography. There are several cameras that you are encouraged to sign out and to practice your photography and complete your assignments, but you are more than welcome to use your own equipment as well. Today will be an opportunity for us to discuss the concept of the class, my expectations (and more importantly, yours!), and fill out all the "piddly" stuff that we need to do in order to become immersed digital learners. Please sign up for the Remind Service (and have your parents do it too!). Please sign up for Flickr and for Adobe Slate (which we will be using to showcase our work). You NEED to keep track of any passwords, as I do not have access to the servers to change them for you. You will also need a Weebly account (we will talk more about this next week). I'd like you to also fill out this questionnaire. ...and before the bell rings, let's make sure we have set up all our accounts to access the school server. Whew!
