Today, we are going to finish up the lecture on the components of effective creative design, and look at the pieces you need to make an excellent culminating portfolio.
We are going to experiment with backchanneling during today's class using todaysmeet. Expectations are that everyone will take this opportunity to try this exciting new way of learning together.
Please make sure that you bring a CD case for tomorrow's class. You should also be digging up a product box that you would like to redesign (make sure it is smaller than a cereal box). You will need it for next week.
Today we talked about our portfolios, and those looking for inspiration, should take a look at the designs created by Algonquin College Students.
Now that the yearbook has been finished, we have the time to go back and fully explore some of the concepts that we rushed to learn so that we could meet the first week of May deadline.
Today the AWE3MI students will be looking at the fundamentals of Print Design, in order to improve their creative skills when tackling design problems. This MIGHT be a good time for the Grade 12s to "tune in" and "tune up" their own skills, otherwise they are to work on points.
We will also be spending the first part of the period looking at the Portfolio and Best in Show requirements for the Culminating Assessment.
The Sexist Advertising Assignments will be presented on Friday (please be ready to go, as there will be NO extensions).
Last day to finish up your interview and/or Sexist Ad presentation (presentations will take place next Friday...there will be no more class time to work on them).
We are starting new post-yearbook curriculum on Monday. There will also be cake to celebrate our success.
The yearbook is complete and has been sent into the publisher. We will be receiving a pre-print copy in the next two weeks, that once proofed will be sent to press. We are on track to have the yearbooks delivered sometime around June 22nd.
We are now going to return to our "regularly scheduled programming", and expectations are that by Friday the AWE3MIs will have both their interview and their sexist advertising assignments completed. IDP4UYs should be working on points, and should find the time to discuss with me any ways that they would like to improve their skill-base.
We will be talking about Portfolios tomorrow.
We are almost done the yearbook. With one final BIG HUGE push we should be able to finish it today, send it off today, and have the proofs back in approximately 2 weeks. Let's help each other to finish everything up.
Reminder that you need to bring a CD case and cover in for Monday (make sure that it is the environmentally unfriendly plastic kind, not the uber-cool recycled cardboard type).
All yearbook pages (ALL) must be completed by Thursday night. No exceptions..or the book does not ship for a June delivery. We CANNOT miss this date. Expectations are that you will help each other to finish pages, gather information, and troubleshoot issues.
If you truly have NOTHING to do, you always have the assigned projects that have been put on the back burner for the past 3 weeks.
We need to complete the book by Friday.
Please see me if that is not going to be possible for you to meet.
I still have not received the tracking sheets from every person in the class(please see the posts below). These need to be done today, with no exceptions.
We have missed a few deadlines, but we have the ability to reel it all back in and make our publishing date. For this to happen, everybody will have to step up and go extra things. If you cannot possibily move forward with your page(s), there is a clipboard of odd jobs that need to be done. Please take a look, and finish anything off of that list that you can.
Every one needs to complete a page tracking sheet for EVERY page that they are responsible for...please do so by the end of the period.
