AWE3MI: Today we are going to start our first
group project. As we have discussed in class, you will be choosing a company that you believe does a poor job of reaching their target market.
Your job is to work with 2-3 of your classmates to develop a brand new marketing campaign for that company, that includes at least 2 examples of a print ad (and beyond that there are no real limits, other than "keep it appropriate for high school").
We will be brainstorming about brainstorming today, as we watch an episode of "The Pitch" to see how
advertising campaigns are developed in the "real world".
After we watch the episode, this handout on the 4 key questions to help frame your advertising campaign is a good place to start. You will also need this planning sheet and rubric.
We will need to focus extra hard today, as we are falling behind, and have real deadlines starting to loom in our face. Your patience is appreciated.
Today, we are going to look at the Creative Elements of Consumer Design, and how they effect product labeling. I will be leading a guided exploration of the Prezi I posted below.
Download and print this rubric/checklist.
Download and print this CD Cover planner.
Have your CD case, pencil and ruler available and ready to go.
The CD Cover will be assigned today, and I am expecting that you will not need much more than a few days to complete them. I would like them handed in before the end of Friday's class.
As a whole, the AWE3MI class has done an excellent job with there magazine covers. Here are some excellent Level 4 examples from last year.
Today, we are going to start working on one of the most relevant Photoshop features that will be used in the production of the yearbook (and your magazine cover, for that matter).
By the end of the period you should be able to:
1) understand what layers are, and how to use them
2) how to cut an object out of one photo and paste it in another
3) how to add small details (like shadows) to increase realism
For this period you will need these two files (PitBull, Hotel).
You will also need to pick out a place that you would like to visit, but have never been (this will need to be at least a 4mp photo..make sure you use Google Advanced Image Search). You will also need to work with a partner to take a photo of yourself. You will be making a virtual postcard.
